On 25 August 2008: Denmark has regained its status as a notifiable avian influenza free country according to the requirements of article 2.7.12.3 of the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code.
On 12 June 2008: In compliance with European Union legislation, the restricted zone around the poultry holding near Stenstrup in Svendborg municipality on the island of Funen will be lifted on 14 June 2008. As of this date there are no more restricted areas in Denmark due to avian influenza. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration consider that the event is resolved.
On 23 May 2008 the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration approved the disinfection of the holding affected with LPAI H7N1. According to the requirements of Article 2.7.12.3. of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Denmark expect to regain its status as a notifiable avian influenza free country on August 24 2008.
On 28 April 2008 an outbreak of lowpatogen avian influenza of the type H7N1 was found in a holding with geese, ducks and mallards on the island of Funen. The holding was tested in accordance with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza in poultry. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has established a restricted zone of 1 km around the holding and are implementing the nexessary measures in accordance with Council direstive 2005/94/EC (see map). All the birds in the holding are killed today.
The latest outbreak of HPAI in Denmark was found in 2006.
