22. January 2010: The vaccination strategy against bluetongue has changed from a compulsory strategy in 2008 and 2009 to a voluntary strategy in 2010.
December 2009: The seasonally vector-free period in Denmark is declared as from 1 December 2009. This is based upon the catches of low numbers of culicoides and cold weather.
9 December 2008: Denmark has declared vector-free period from 1 December 2008.
12 September 2008: IAH-Pirbright have today confirmed the results of the sequence analysis of the Danish National Veterinary Institute that the serotype of the virus from the herd near Bredebro is BTV-8.
