Commercial trade of animals

For commercial import of live animals to Denmark it is a requirement that a Danish importer, registered at the Regional Veterinary and Food Administration is the consignee of the consignment.

For commercial export of live animals from Denmark it is a requirement that a Danish exporter, registered at the Regional Veterinary and Food Administration is the consignor of the consignment.

Pet animals travelling unaccompanied
Please note that if a pet animal travels unaccompanied by its owner, the health requirement for commercial traded pet animals must be met.
However, if the animal is not to be sold, a registered importer/exporter is not required.

Health requirement
Denmark complies with the EU regulations. Therefore in order to export live animals to Denmark the EU requirements must be met.

For further information, please see under each animal group.
